state-availability data. One entry per fix: what was wrong, how we found it,

what changed. Newest at bottom. This file is the audit trail for the

/methodology page.

2026-08-28 - Matcher bug: truth-report rows never matched review slugs

• What: scripts/build_state_button_data.py normalized names with

norm() (e.g. "Crown Coins Casino" -> crowncoinscasino) but looked them

up against slug keys (crown-coins), so 10 of 17 truth rows never matched.

Only casinos whose slug equaled the squeezed name got UG truth applied.

• Found by: manual trace + Kimi 3 independent audit

(docs/SOURCE-OF-TRUTH-AUDIT.md).

• Fix: ALIAS map (chumbacasino->chumba, coinsbackcasino->coinsback,

crowncoinscasino->crown-coins, moonspincasino->moonspin,

rebetcasino->rebet, spreesocialcasino->spree, stakeus->stake-us) applied

when storing truth keys. Commit 55c0a92.

• Effect: chumba corrected from 8-state page-copy list to its real 4-state

T&C exclusion (ID MI MT WA) before the law floor was layered on.

• Not fixable: Cashoomo, Lucky Buddha Casino, TurboStakes have truth rows

but no review page; skipped, never invented.

2026-08-28 - "Available in all 50 states" modal claim (false)

• What: js/state-modal.js rendered a green check "Available in all 50

states" for casinos with empty restricted lists. False for the 15

restricting states in the Tier 0 baseline.

• Fix: replaced with "No restricted states on file" + explicit

non-guarantee note + source/checked-date footer on every modal. Commit

55c0a92.

2026-08-28 - Law floor absent from all lists

• What: No casino list reflected 2025-26 statutory bans (CA AB 831,

CT SB 1235, IN HB 1052, LA HB 883, ME LD 2007, MT SB 555, NV SB 256,

NJ A 5447, NY S 5935A, TN SB 2136) or the IL Gaming Board C&D wave.

Operators' T&C pages lag enforcement.

• Fix: data/state_law_baseline.json (15 restricting states with

authorities + effective dates + sources) + scripts/apply_law_floor.py;

1,195 state additions across 132 casinos. Idempotent. Commit 55c0a92.

2026-08-28 - YayCasino over-blocked NV, missed CA/NY

• What: Review page said NV; operator T&C excludes CA ID MI NY WA.
• Fix: T&C list applied via TIER1_VERIFIED allow-list (protected from

future overwrite). Commit 55c0a92.
